The existing bridge is a cast-in-place non-redundant two girder composite deck concrete structure that is deficient in load capacity.In addition,the bridge is seismically and structurally questionable and functionally obsolete due to narrow substandard traffic lanes and sidewalks. A Federal Bridge Program grant will provide$2.4 Million of the estimated$3.0 Million budget for the preliminary engineering and right of way phases of the bridge replacement project. The budget for preliminary engineering and right of way is$3,000,000 and the sources of funds are: Federal Grant(Bridge Program) $2,400,000 Fund 119—Street Improvements 450,000 Fund 157—Traffic Mitigation 150,000 Total Funds $3,000,000 RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): Adopt an Ordinance creating a special improvement project entitled"Edgewater Creek Bridge Replacement,"Fund 303,Program 115 to accumulate all costs for the improvement.
