Based on information obtained during the excavation, the soils consultant,RZA
AGRA Inc.,has permitted a higher bearing pressure of 5000 pounds per square foot over
most of thP site. See RGA AGRA fax of 26 May 1993,enclosed.
Additionally, the owner Gmup Heelth Cooperative, has decided not to classify the facility as
an easential facility. See letter from Group Health Cooperative endosed. This changes the
Importance Factor I from 1.25 to 1.00 in the seismic load calculations. This change has the
effect of reducing the design seismic load by 20 percent.
It wae decided to redesign four large footinga,Types F5 and F6, to take advantage of these
changea. Revisions to Sheets S.0.1 and S.4.1 and supporting calculations are enclosed. The
footing redesign was done using a small computer program (pages 9 to 10,enclosed). The
results of the computer program analysis were checked manually.
Please give me or Jim Zusy a call ifyou have any questions.
Sincerely yours,
uc.e,k,w L.ti/.:.
Michael W.
