Meg Haley
From: Meg Haley
Sent: Monday, March 19, 2007 9:43 AM
To: 'jhousand@sirconstruction.com' p7 U,L
Cc: 'jfp@pacengtech.com'
Subject: 952 North Broadway Requirements for Permit
Jayme,
We have receive the engineering report for 952 North 8roadway vehicle damage From Pacitic Engineering Technologies,
Inc. signed and stamped by James Paustian, P.E. and S.E. The report was distributed to Comhusker!ncrance
Companies and the City of Everett. Since the report is noted for excusive use by Cornhusker, you should contact them or
Jim Paustian for a copy of the report if you are going to submit the application for building permit(s).
A'Stop Work' was issued on 2/13 since permits are required for the type of work involved. In regards to the ceiling repair
of the first and second floor units, once the floor ceiling or roof ceiling caviry is exposed, insulation is required to Ne
installed whether the insulation was pre-existing or not, per the 2004 Washington State Energy Code Section 101.3.2.5,
exception 2. Additional requirements will apply to the work, including the 2003 International Fire Code regarding
retroactive requirements for detection systems (IFC Section 907.3) and the 2003 Washington State Ventilation and Indoor
Air Quality Code (Section 302) regarding venting. The individual rooms require a one hour separation at the Boor-ceiling
assembty, based on the R-2 occupancy, per the 2003 International Building Code Section 711.3.
More specific review of the work being proposed can be given once we have received the building permit application and
drawings for the new work, showing the existing conditions and any demolition involved, per the City of Everett Tenant
Improvement Checklist that you and I discussed at the counter this past Friday. Based on the square footage of the
buiiding and the details required to comply with the codes, a Washington State licensed engineer or architect will be
required to submit and stamp the drawings.
I spoke to Jim Paustian regarding the engineering report, and gave him your contact information if you would like to make
arrangements to get a copy. Mr. Paustian was aware of the requirement for a licensed engineer or architect to submit the
drawings, per his conversations with Tony Lee, City of Evereri Permit Services Manager. Tony issued the stop work order
on the project on February 13, 2007. According to the City of Everett inspection report, the work required for permit is a
result from car damage in February and water damage from the December amage to the roefing materials.
Please let me know if you need any additional information prior to submitting the permit applications with the drawings.
—Meg
Meg{ay
la.ra x.a-+ni.ner
Ciry of Everett
3200 Cedar Smet
EverMt, WA 98201
Ph: 725-2578813
Faz: 425-257-8656
www.eve retiwa.orafdefaul t. as px 71 D=376
