Presently there are no eating <br />facilities at the Pine Street site. The addition is an eating <br />area.It is designed to house a commercial kitchen and dining area. <br />The purpose is to have a place for the youth to eat meals. There is <br />a hired cook for all the meals and youth will also have employment <br />opportunities to work with the cook. <br />The addition eliminates the need for small kitchens in each living <br />unit. We believe the youth we serve will be more likely to eat <br />healthy foods if the meal preparation and food consumption is done <br />as a structured activity with adult support. We fear that small <br />kitchens in each unit would pose an unnecessary fire hazard as well <br />as create an unrealistic burden on our population to prepare all of <br />their own meals. <br />I hope the information provided is sufficient.
