,
 c
Building C chunged occupnncy from B to E-3 on May 5`, 1999. Although
the size of the overall building was 10,265 square feet, the school portion of
the building was only 5,653 square feet. At that time, the building wns not
required to have a sprinkler system installed as the clunge of occupancy wu
not greater than 6J00 square feet, nnd that no additional area wns ;idded to
the building.
The current proposal for Building D is to convert the remaining 5alance of
4,612 squarc feet into E-3 Duycare usage. The entire I0,265 square foot
building would then be un E-3 occupnncy, and over tle 6,000 square foot
threshold. To proceed with this change of use, there are two options:
a) Install an approved automatic sprinkler system in both portions (C
and D)of the building per Ordnance 1902-92,or
b) Create an assumed property line between the two buildiugs and
follow the fire-resistive requirements of walls and openings based
on distanced to property lines as prescrit+ed in Section 503.3 and
Tnble 5-A. Please note that the exception to Section 503.3 would
not apply in this case.
2. Wire glazing should only be used in corridor relites. Relites in non-reted
walls should use safety glnzing. Section 2406.4.3, Exception 2
3. Doors #9, 1 l, 14 & ?0 should have su unobstructed floor space a minimum
of 18 inches beyond the strike jamb and extend at lenst 60 inches
perpendicular to the doonvay from the pull-side approach. Section 1106.10.3
Prepare a response letter showing where each item in this correction letter is addressed
on the plan set.
Upon submittal of the drawings, your application will be given priority and plan review
will recommence.
All required submittals sliall be of sufticient detail and contain sufficient infortnation to
ensure that tha proposed structure will be conswcted in compliance with aIl adopted
codes.
Sincerely,

/ l
—
T6tfy Lee
Associate Engincer
OFDIPLS[AATIVLEEPumtawl LIl'f1.E RFO X'l1IXIL110USE
