The investigation revealed that the building had a second dwelling unit <br /> created in a previously unfinished crawispace. <br /> The attached report denotes issues that were found to be out of compliance within the <br /> building based on non-destructive investigations. It is important to note however that not <br /> all of the possible deficiencies in the building were or could have been found based on <br /> these limited inspections. For a comprehensive investigation, owners are encouraged to <br /> secure the services of licensed design professionals and contractors. As this is not a <br /> complete list, additional issues may therefore arise during subsequent plan review and <br /> inspection. <br /> ACTION <br /> Construction permits, inspections and final approvals must be obtained for the work done <br /> within the building. This unit is not legal to occupy until all required permit final <br /> approvals have been secured._Prior to applying for permits,the Planning Department <br /> must be contacted to ascertain any land use or zoning requirements applicable to the <br /> project. Planning staff may be contacted at (425)257-8731 or in person at the Permit <br /> Services Center at 3200 Cedar Street. Land use approval will be required prior to the <br /> intake of any plans for permit review. <br /> To apply for construction permits plans must be prepared and submitted that show the <br /> structure complies with the minimum codes, clearly depict the extent of the work <br /> completed without permits, outline newly proposed work and rectify the code <br /> deficiencies present in the building. It is the owners responsibility to ensure that the <br /> building comply with the minimum state and city codes - it is highly recommended that <br /> the services of professionals be secured to help with the preparation of plans and <br /> determination of code deficiencies. <br /> The required inspections will begin at the rough-in phase. All rough-in inspections <br /> (framing, plumbing, mechanical and electrical)must be approved prior to requesting a <br />
