Ted de Budden
From: Ted de Budden
Sent: Friday, October 07, 2016 12:18 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Subject: 1031 North Broadway Unit#44
Kevin,
We have been contacted by a tenant regarding electrical concerns. The tenant resides in a mobile home located at 1031
North Broadway, space#44.
Electrical inspector Mike Bearda and I conducted an inspection of the home on Tuesday Oct.4th to assess the concerns.
Here is a brief summary of our findings.
Electrical outlets throughout the structure are old and loose. These electrical receptacles have lost required spring
tension to hold "plugins" properly. This poor connection causes the outlets to develop heat and can become a fire
hazard.
Exposed wiring with an open connection was observed in an attached back porch area. No record of permits or
inspection approval was located for this attached porch and the associated wiring.
An electrical wall heater located in the bathroom of the house is not working.
An exterior front porch light is not working.
These electrical conditions are violations of IPMC section 605.1 rendering the Structure Unsafe as defined by code.
The porch addition is a violation of IPMC section 108.1.4 and IRC section 105.1
I have posted the house with an Unsafe Equipment placard. As Per IPMC 108.1.2
Please initiate enforcement action as your schedule allows.
Thank you
Ted de Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
1
