Damage has not been caused by wind or seismic effects.
• Existing roof framing members have been analyzed for International Building Code loads and
new roof framing members have been added or existing roof framing members have been
retrofit to comply.
702.6 Materials and methods.
• New work complies with the materials and methods requirements in the International Building
Code.
The new parapet system increases wind loads by greater than 10% (1103.3.1) and therefore require
lateral system evaluation; seismic loads increase by less than 0.5%. The existing lateral load resisting
system consists of"Intermediate Reinforced Masonry Shearwalls" as determined by reinforcing detailing
indicated in the as-built drawings. A comparison of seismic and wind loads, as determined by the
International Building Code, indicated that seismic loads govern by approximately 70% and that new wind
loads do not exceed existing seismic loads. Therefore, the existing lateral force resisting system is
adequate for the increased wind loads due to the new parapet system. Please find attached structural
calculations for referenced evaluation.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our office.
Sincerely,
Jeremy D.
