SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS: Lot 154: Previously, GeoDesign noted an approximately 15 feet long and 6 feet wide triangular section along the southeast corner of the lot area which could be probed 1.5 to 2.0 feet using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe that we recommended be removed and replaced with structural fill material. Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS over-excavated the previously identified area down to firm and unyielding soil and backfilled with the area with a 2-inch clean crushed rock material compacted into a firm and unyielding mass. It is the opinion of GeoDesign that exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and saturated material that may be generated be removed from the base of foundation areas prior to the placement of concrete. Foundations should not be poured on frozen ground; any soils loosened from frost-heave should be removed from the base of foundation areas prior to placement of concrete. A summary of observations and dersity tests taken can be found in the attached Figure 1. The contractor was notified of our observations prior to our departure from the site today. This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services.We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor,the contractor's employees or agents.
