Ted de Budden
From: Ted de Budden
Sent: Thursday,June 08, 2017 12:42 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Cc: Spring Wathen
Subject: RE:Waits motel 1301 Lombard
Hi Kevin,
I visited the site again today to check on the concerns about work continuing. The owner's son showed me that the work
being done creating the noise is from a laminate flooring project that does not require a permit.
I agreed that the flooring project is exempt from permit but reminded him of our concerns about the other work that
had been conducted without required permits.
He assured me that any required permits will be obtained and stated that he has an engineer and an electrical
contractor scheduled in the next few days to assist with the permits and corrections.
He seems sincere about the intent to comply. Just to emphasize the need and our position I went ahead and posted an
Unsafe Equipment and Unsafe Structure placard on the west side of the building that leads to the area of construction
activity.
To be fair, it is obvious that these folks have inherited an unwanted reputation and some faulty work from the previous
owner.
We shall see how the compliance effort unfolds.
Ted
From: Kevin Fagerstrom
Sent: Thursday, June 08, 2017 7:28 AM
To: Ted de Budden
Subject: FW: Waits motel 1301 Lombard
The neighbors are reporting that your order is being disobeyed. Please let me know how you would like to
handle.
Thanks, Kevin
From: Robert Larson [mailto:rlarson11@cs.com]
Sent: Wednesday, June 07, 2017 6:08 PM
To: Kevin Fagerstrom
Cc: Spring Wathen
Subject: Re: Waits motel 1301 Lombard
Just a FYI, I guess. The new owners of Waits came over and introduced themselves to my husband and i. They
assured us they will abide by laws, and run a clean buisness. I stressed to them that nearly 30 years of the
opposite will be hard to ignore, and I have to be shown.
Sure enough, despite a Stop Work order being given yesterday, they were back at it at 6:30am this morning,
and are at it tonight, 6pm, I can hear a power saw of some sort. It's so very frustrating that this "buisness" has
such a blatant disregard for the city's rules and regulations. I don't hold out much hope for a well run buisness
EVER being run at 1301 Lombard.
Stephanie Larson
7
1 / f
