WIZ <br /> DESIGN' FIELD REPORT <br /> 1 of <br /> ........:. <br /> Project Name: Everett River Front- Simpson Report: 109 <br /> GeoDesign #: , Polygon-127-03Date: 6/8/2018 <br /> Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit: <br /> PW1505-005 <br /> . <br /> e1 Nick Abdelnour(Polygon) i Randy Allen(City of Everett) I Weather Clear, 60's I <br /> Ron Bowen(Polygon) Eddy Stevens(Polygon) Arrival/Departure: 0815/0900 <br /> Distribution: -- <br /> Doug Ross(Polygon) Kirk Keck(City of Everett) <br /> Paul McKee(City of Everett) Dave Foster(City of Everett) Prepared By: Ben Weinberg, P.E. <br /> m Slte Plans) m Density Test Summary 1 Signature %� *- <br /> Attachments: <br /> ❑ Installation Records ❑ Other I Reviewed By: <br /> PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Ben Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of Craig with DDS to <br /> observe foundation subgrade for Lots 151 and 152. <br /> SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS: <br /> Lot 151: <br /> Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the foundation and crawl space area for Lot 151. <br /> The exposed soil across the lot area typically consisted of a gray-brown silty SAND with gravel which could be probed less <br /> than 1 inch using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. <br /> Relative compaction of the exposed foundation subgrade soil was tested using a Troxler Moisture-Density gauge; in-place <br /> density tests indicated that the material had been compacted to greater than 95% of its maximum dry density as determined <br /> by a Modified Proctor analysis. <br /> It is our opinion that the exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the intended <br /> structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and saturated material that may be generated be removed from <br /> the base of foundation areas prior to the placement of concrete. <br /> Lot 152: <br /> Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the foundation and crawl space area for Lot 151. <br /> The lot area required over-excavation up to 1.5 feet below plan subgrade across the lot area,with the deepest portion in the <br /> garage area. DDS noted that the installed sewer lateral is beneath the north perimeter footing; they intend on excavating <br /> and re-plumbing the sewer lateral prior to backfilling the area with 5/8-inch crushed rock material placed in lifts and <br /> compacted with a hoepack. The exposed subgrade across the lot area typically consisted of a gray to brown silty SAND <br /> with gravel which could be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. <br /> Relative compaction of the exposed foundation subgrade soil was tested using a Troxler Moisture-Density gauge; in-place <br /> density tests indicated that the material had been compacted to greater than 95%of its maximum dry density as determined <br /> by a Modified Proctor analysis. <br /> It is our understanding that the contractor will be backfilling the over-excavated portion of the lot area and fixing the sewer <br /> lateral beneath the north perimeter footing at a later date. <br /> A summary of our observations and density tests taken today can be found in the attached Figure 1 and Nuclear Density <br /> Gauge Data. The contractor was notified of our observations. <br /> This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services.We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and <br /> specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not include supervision or direction of the contractor,the contractor's employees <br /> or agents.
