Sheet M523 lists the new mechanical units being installed in the building. The following <br /> comments should be addressed: <br /> a. The schedules list unit weights for the AC-5 and CU-1 units of 1,920 lbs. and 735 lbs., <br /> respectively. Verify the weight is the operating weight, not the shipping weight. <br /> b. The convector schedule lists a new C-1 unit. The weight of the unit should be specified. <br /> 2. Sheet 3M13 shows the addition of a new AC-5 unit. The following comments should be <br /> addressed: <br /> a. It is not clear if the unit weighs more than the existing unit being removed per Sheet <br /> 3M13R. The existing gravity framing supporting the unit shall be evaluated if the new unit <br /> weighs more than 5% of the original design load on the framing. See IEBC Section 807.4 <br /> b. The existing lateral framing supporting the unit shall be evaluated if the new unit weighs <br /> more than 10% of the original design load on the framing. The existing supporting framing <br /> shall be modified as needed. See IEBC Section 807.5. <br /> 3. Sheet 3M61 shows the addition of a new CU-1 unit. The following comments should be <br /> addressed: <br /> a. It is not clear if the unit weighs more than the existing unit being removed per Sheet <br /> 3M61R. The existing gravity framing supporting the unit shall be evaluated if the new unit <br /> weighs more than 5% of the original design load on the framing. See IEBC Section 807.4 <br /> b. The existing lateral framing supporting the unit shall be evaluated if the new unit weighs <br /> more than 10% of the original design load on the framing. The following comments should be <br /> addressed: <br /> a. Flag Note 1 on Sheet 3M61 indicates that the CU-1 unit will be supported by new framing. <br /> Details and calculations for the framing shall be submitted for review. See IEBC Section <br /> 807.2 and IBC Sections 1603.1 and 1604.1. <br /> b. Calculations substantiating the gravity and lateral support of the unit by the existing <br /> building framing shall be submitted for review. The existing supporting framing shall be <br /> modified as needed. See IEBC Sections 807.4 and 807.5. <br /> 5. Sheet M523 lists a new C-1 unit to be installed in the building. The following comments should <br /> be addressed: <br /> a. The unit does not appear to be specified in the building plans. The location of the unit <br /> should be clarified. See IBC Section 107.2.1. <br /> b. Calculations substantiating the gravity and lateral support of the unit by the existing <br /> building framing shall be submitted for review. The existing supporting framing shall be <br /> modified as needed. See IEBC Sections 807.4 and 807.5. <br /> 6. The construction drawings do not appear to include connection requirements for the new units <br /> to the supporting framing. Details specifying the connections shall be provided in the <br /> drawings.
