ATTACHMENT A <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Auditing services, including utility tax auditing and tax and franchise fee investigation services <br /> will be provided by the Service Provider as follows: <br /> Audits and investigations on selected businesses may be conducted by the Service Provider as <br /> mutually agreed upon by the City and the Service Provider. In performing the audits, Service <br /> Provider will act as an agent of the City of Everett, contacting the appropriate businesses, <br /> examining their books, and working as necessary with their responsible financial officers and <br /> staff. <br /> As audits are completed, Service Provider will keep Everett informed as to additional <br /> advantageous audits to consider next. <br /> The City will provide: <br /> -Access to City business license data, including the name of the company to be audited with its <br /> address,phone number,state UBI number and business license open date. <br /> -If the company is registered,copies of the business's tax return for the past years included in <br /> the audit plus the current year <br /> -When requested by the taxpayer,the City will send a letter to verify TRS's status as agent of the <br /> City of Everett. <br /> -Certain legal documents if required by the taxpayer or for the benefit of the City of Everett, <br /> such as non-disclosure agreements,subpoenas and limitations waivers,will require review by <br /> Everett's legal department,and signatures of a City officer. <br /> Service Provider will provide regular reports on the status of the audit to the City as needed. <br /> Once the audit is completed, Service Provider will supply a copy of the audit to the City of <br /> Everett for review before a fmal copy of the audit is sent to the taxpayer. Service Provider will <br /> be happy to discuss any part of the audit with the City and answer any questions. <br /> Service Provider will work with the company to help them understand that the audit is done <br /> correctly and in accordance to the law,and that payment is due. Doing this helps insure that the <br /> audit recovery is submitted promptly, and that the taxpayer pays his future taxes correctly. <br /> In no event will this contract be construed to require Service Provider to act as a collection <br /> agency or to provide legal representation in a litigation process. <br /> This contract does not include services for refund request audits. <br />
