2. 1,4 _ .7c,-- <br /> ORDINANCE NO. , <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing a Transportation <br /> Advisory Committee. <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett by Reso- <br /> lution Nos. 6193, 6427 and 6936 had heretofore created a <br /> Traffic Advisory Committee, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Everett by Ordi- <br /> nance No. 136-71 had heretofore created a Transit Advisory <br /> Board, and <br /> WHEREAS, it appears that consolidation of the Traffic <br /> Advisory Committe and the Transit Advisory Board into a <br /> single Transportation Advisory Committee is in the best interests <br /> of the City of Everett, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, The City of Everett does ordain: <br /> Section 1: The City of Everett Transportation Advisory <br /> Committee is hereby established for the general purpose of <br /> advising the Mayor and City Council on transportation prob- <br /> lems within the City of Everett. <br /> Section 2 : The functions of the Transportation Advisory <br /> Committee shall include, but not be limited to, the following: <br /> (1) The study of the general traffic problems of the <br /> City of Everett and proposal of constructive steps <br /> toward the solution of those problems. <br /> (2) The study of the extent and type of transit services <br /> to be made available to the residents of Everett. <br /> (3) Participation in the long-range transportation plan- <br /> ning. <br /> (4) Participation in traffic safety planning for the <br /> City of Everett. <br /> Section 3 : Transportation Advisory Committee shall con- <br /> sist of 15-20 members who shall be appointed by the Mayor <br /> with the approval of a majority of the City Council. Member- <br /> ship on the Committee shall represent the interests of industry, <br /> business, schools and the community at large. Membership <br /> representing the community at large shall include representa- <br /> tion for low-income, youth and senior citizens. <br /> The terms of the members shall be six years except that the <br /> initial appointments shall be staggered generally in the <br /> following manner: one-third of the members shall be appointed to <br /> an initial two-year term; one-third of the members for an initial <br /> four-year term; and one-third of the members to a six-year term. <br /> No person serving continuously on the Committee for a period of <br /> more than four years shall be eligible for reappointment until he <br /> is off of the Committee for at least one year. <br />
