In considering the new fare ordinance, Council committed to exploring the possibility of.a new <br /> fare category for low-income customers. Following Council's discussion at its March 6,2019,meeting, <br /> Council directed__Staff to prepare an ordinance.amendment for Council's consideration providing two low - <br /> income fare options: $1.50 low-income fare category; and a simplified fare structure of$2.00 for adults and <br /> $1.00 for all other fare categories including a new low-income fare. <br /> Staff has prepared for Council's consideration an ordinance amending Transit's fare structure providing the <br /> two low-income fare options(OPTIONS 1 &2). Transit has shared these options with the public through its <br /> outreach. It is anticipated that any selected low-income fare would go into effect July 1, 2019 provided that <br /> the ordinance is adopted no later than the April 24, 2019, scheduled City Council meeting. <br /> Everett Transit Staff is presently engaging the community on this matter and a Public Hearing is scheduled to <br /> be held at the April 24,2019, City Council Meeting. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(Exact action requested of Council): <br /> Adopt An ORDINANCE updating Transit Fares, amending Ordinance 2918-06 (EMC 3.52.090 <br /> 49 <br />
