SUMMARY of OBSERVATIONS: Lot 142: Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 142. GeoDesign noted that the exposed footing subgrade generally consisted of a gray and brown silty SAND (f-m)with gravel (f-c) which could generally be penetrated less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. GeoDesign noted an area in the northwest corner of the lot area which exhibited yielding/pumping underfoot and could be probed approximately 6 inches to 1 foot. GeoDesign recommended that the area be over-excavated down to firm and unyielding underlying material, lined with a non-woven geotextile material,and backfilled with with structural fill material. The affected areas were clearly identified using orange spray paint. GeoDesign notified the subcontractor and client of our observations prior to our departure from the site today, Lot 143: Upon arrival, GeoDesign noted that the foundation excavation subcontractor had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 143.
