GeoDesign noted that the exposed foundation subgrade consisted of a gray to gray-brown silty <br /> SAND with gravel and concrete/asphalt. Penetration depths encountered across the west side of the lot area were generally <br /> less than 1 inch. GeoDesign noted that that the east 1/4 of the lot area required approximately 3.0 feet of over-excavation to <br /> expose firm and unyielding ground which could be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe. <br /> GeoDesign notified the client and contractor that the excavation was currently suitable for placement of structural backfill <br /> material. <br /> LOT 273: <br /> Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the footing and crawl space area for Lot 273. Previously, <br /> GeoDesign observed the removal of unsuitable fill material from 8-10 feet below bottom of plan footing within the building <br /> area and replacement with structural fill material. Today, GeoDesign noted that exposed foundation subgrade material <br /> consisted of a gray-brown silty SAND with gravel which could generally be probed less than 2 inches using a 1/2 inch <br /> diameter soil probe. <br /> It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the exposed foundation subgrade observed today is currently suitable for support of the <br /> intended structure. GeoDesign recommends that any surficially loose and/or saturated material be removed from the base <br /> of the foundation area prior to the placement of concrete. <br /> A summary of our observations and density tests taken today can be found in the attached Figure 1. <br /> This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services.We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and <br /> specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not indude supervision or direction of the contractor,the contractor's employees <br /> or agents.
