Limited access,general purpose facilities that are designed <br /> and maintained as regional routes for vehicular travel through and into(and out <br /> of) the Planning Area. <br /> • Regional HOV. Freeway and limited access HOV facilities that are designed <br /> and maintained as regional high occupancy vehicle facilities for travel through <br /> and into(and out of)the Planning Area. <br /> • Local Principal Vehicular. Principal local arterials that are designed to provide <br /> vehicular circulation within the Planning Area and to regional vehicular facilities. <br /> They are not designed as primary vehicle routes for travel through the Planning <br /> Area,but are important routes for vehicular travel into and out of the Planning <br /> Area. <br /> • Local Multi-Modal. Local(primarily collector)arterials that are designed and <br /> maintained for the local circulation of all modes of travel,including transit and <br /> bicycles. <br /> • Transit,HOV,Vehicle,Pedestrian Corridor with Transit Priority,Mixed <br /> Use Environment. Major multi-modal corridors designed to provide transit <br /> service with advantages that make transit and non-motorized travel more <br /> competitive. These corridors are keyed to mixed-use land use commitments <br /> identified in the Comprehensive Plan <br /> • Transit,HOV,Vehicle,Pedestrian Corridor with Vehicular Priority,Mixed- <br /> Use Environment. Major multi-modal corridors designed to provide a balance <br /> of features for all modes of travel,but with a continued preference for the <br /> movement of vehicles(including transit vehicles). Keyed to mixed-use land use <br /> commitments identified in the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> • Multi-Modal Center. Bus,HOV,rapid rail,ferry,commuter rail,pedestrian, <br /> bicycle center designed to provide a protected transfer/interface point for many <br /> travel options. Location keyed to centers and corridors supporting the land use <br /> vision. Purpose is to maximize the effectiveness of all modes and to expand <br /> travel options. <br /> • Pedestrian/Bicycle Access. Sidewalks or separated routes that provide non- <br /> motorized access from neighborhoods to mixed-use/multi-modal corridors and <br /> centers. <br /> • Pedestrian/Bicycle Trunk System. A primary network of pedestrian and <br /> bicycle routes that interconnect within the Planning Area to form a system <br /> serving all of the multi-modal corridors,centers and neighborhoods. <br /> • Regional Rapid Transit. A major regional high capacity transit system that is <br /> capable of connecting regional centers such as Seattle,Everett,Tacoma and <br /> Bellevue with fast and dependable all day transit service. Typically consists of <br /> rail or busway facility and major stations spaced at 1/2 mile or longer intervals. <br /> T-13 <br />
