GE, z )1 3)s+ FIELD RESIGI_ Dir 1 of 3
Project Name: Everett River Front-Eclipse (3) Report: 045
GeoDesign#: Polygon-128-03 Date: 12/20/2017
Reports with Unresolved Nonconformance Issues: Permit:
PW1504-055
Nick Abdelnour(Polygon) Randy Allen(City of Everett) Weather: Cloudy,40's
Ron Bowen(Polygon) Eddy Stevens(Polygon Homes) Arrival/Departure: 1630/1700
Distribution:
Doug Ross(Polygon)
Paul McKee(City of Everett) Prepared By: Benjamin Weinberg
Attachments: ElSite Plan(s) 0Density Test Summary Signature: S'y:-..
❑ Installation Records 0 Other ... _.-
Reviewed By:
PURPOSE of VISIT: GeoDesign representative, Benjamin Weinberg, was on-site part time at the request of Craig with
DDS to observe the mat foundation subgrade for Building 11.
SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS:
BUILDING 11 -MAT FOUNDATION SUBGRADE OBSERVATIONS:
Today, GeoDesign noted that DDS had completed excavation of the mat foundation area for Building 11. The exposed
foundation subgrade generally consisted of a gray-brown silty SAND with gravel which could be probed less than 2 inches
using a 1/2 inch diameter soil probe.
Relative compaction of the exposed mat foundation subgrade material was tested using a Troxler Moisture-Density gauge;
in-place density tests indicated that the material had been compacted to greater than 95% of its maximum dry density as
determined by a Modified Proctor analysis.
GeoDesign noted that the east 1/4 of the building area required approximately 2-4 inches of over-excavation to remove
surficially loose and saturated material.
It is the opinion of GeoDesign that the exposed mat foundation subgrade is currently suitable for support of the intended
structure. We recommend that any surficially loose and saturated material that may build up beneath the foundation area
during excavation of internal utility trenches be removed prior to installation of the vapor barrier and capillary break material.
The contractor was notified of our observations prior to our departure from the site today. A summary of our observations
can be found in the attached Figure 1 and Nuclear Density Gauge Data.
This report presents opinions formed as a result of our observation of activities relating to geotechnical engineering or environmental services. We rely on the contractor to comply with the plans and
specifications throughout the duration of the project irrespective of the presence of our representative. Our work does not Include supervision or direction of the contractor, the contractor's employees
or agents. Our firm is not responsible for site safety. This field report is a DRAFT representation of our field observations, testing, and preliminary recommendations. The report can only be considered
final upon review of the GeoDesign project manager,as indicated by initials in the"Reviewed By"section.
10700 Meridian Avenue North,Suite 402 I Seattle,WA 98133 I 206.838.9900
2502 Jefferson Avenue I Tacoma,WA 98402 I 253.203.0095
