CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS ' DIVISION 5 — SURFACE TREATMENTS AND PAVEMENTS 5-04 HOT MIX ASPHALT 5-04.3 Construction Requirements 5-04.3(3) Hot Mix Asphalt Pavers Section 5-04.3(3)A is deleted and replaced with the following: ' 5-04.3(3)A Material Transfer Device / Vehicle A material transfer device or vehicle (MTD/V) is not required. 5-04.3(7) Preparation of Aggregates Delete 5-04.3(7)A and substitute the following: 5-04.3(7)A Mix Design ' 5-04.3(7)A1 General Prior to the production of HMA, the Contractor shall determine a design aggregate structure and asphalt binder content in accordance with WSDOT ' Standard Operating Procedure 732. Once the design aggregate structure and asphalt binder content have been determined, the Contractor shall submit the HMA mix design on DOT form Division B 350-042 demonstrating the ' design meets the requirements of Sections 9-03.8(2) and 9-03.8(6). HMA accepted by nonstatistical evaluation requires a mix design verification. For HMA accepted by commercial evaluation only the first page of DOT form 350- 042 and the percent of asphalt binder is required. In no case shall the paving ' begin before the determination of anti-strip requirements has been made. Anti-strip requirements will be determined by: a. Testing by WSDOT in accordance with TM 718. b. Testing by Contractor in accordance with WSDOT TM 718. c. Historical aggregate source anti-strip use provided by WDOT. The mix design will be the initial Job Mix Formula (JMF) for the HMA being ' produced. Any additional adjustments to the JMF will require the approval of the Project Engineer and may be made per Section 9-03.8(7). 5-04.3(7)A2 Nonstatistical and Commercial Evaluation Mix designs for HMA accepted by Nonstatistical or Commercial evaluation shall; 1. Be submitted to the Project Engineer on WSDOT Form 350-042 2. Have the aggregate structure and asphalt binder content determined in accordance with WSDOT Standard Operating Procedure 732 and meet the requirements of Sections 9-03.8(2) ' and 9-03.8(6). 3. Have anti-strip requirements, if any, for the proposed mix design determined in accordance with WSDOT Test Method T 718 or ' based on historic anti-strip and aggregate source compatibility from 'v"v'SDOT lab testing. Anti-strip evaluation of HMA mix designs utilized that include RAP will be completed without the inclusion of the RAP. At or prior to the preconstruction meeting, the contractor shall provide one of the following mix design verification certifications for Contracting ' Agency review; Alverson Stormwater Separation February 2019 WO No. - UP3660 Division 5—SURFACE TREATMENTS AND PAVEMENTS SP -145
