RESOLUTION NO. 7374 EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> A Resolution Changing the Name of the <br /> "Wall Street Building"to the "Everett Municipal Building" <br /> WHEREAS, City Council Resolution No. 6537 authorizes the City Council to designate the names <br /> of city buildings, streets, public places,facilities and natural features by resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, the criteria to be used by the City Council in making a decision include criterion H, <br /> which states, "Proposals shall be reviewed to avoid duplication, confusing similarity or <br /> inappropriateness"; and <br /> WHEREAS, criterion I states, "Proposed name change may reflect the geographical location, <br /> historical or cultural significance..."; and <br /> WHEREAS,the City-owned,ten story building located at 2930 Wetmore Avenue is the location <br /> of most of the City's administrative offices, including the office of the Mayor and other elected <br /> officials; and <br /> WHEREAS, on April 23, 2019 the Historical Commission held a public hearing and recommended <br /> renaming the "Wall Street Building" to the "Everett Municipal Building" to give the general <br /> public an improved understanding that most departments have their administrative offices in <br /> the building. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br /> 1. The Everett City Council concurs with the Everett Historical Commission's <br /> recommendation to rename the "Wall Street Building" to the "Everett Municipal <br /> Building"; and <br /> 2. Renaming the building the "Everett Municipal Building" will help eliminate potential <br /> confusion among the general public when trying to locate City administrative offices; <br /> and <br /> 3. The recommended name conveys to the general public that City administrative services <br /> continue to be associated with downtown Everett, similar to the Snohomish County <br /> administrative complex one block to t • east. <br /> C•uncilmember I troducing Re,� <br /> / ol0i•n <br /> PASSED and APPROVED the 15th day of May 2019. <br /> Council 'resident <br />
