I GAVE THE TENANTS ALL OF THE SMOKE DETECTORS THAT I HAD DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE SMALL CHILDREN UPSTAIRS AND THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE BUILDING AND STACKED COMBUSTIBLES. THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. I DID NOT SEE ANY RINGS OR BASES WHERE A SMOKE DETECTOR HAD BEEN IN THE PAST. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE SURE THERE IS A WORKING SMOKE DETECTOR AT THE TIME OF MOVE IN. IF THE TENANT REMOVES THE BATTERY AFTER THAT IT IS ON THEM. MAKE SURE THERE IS A SMOKE DETECTOR IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM AND A NON COMBUSTIBLE WASTE BASKET WITH A LID INSIDE. Location: Throughout Please correct within 30 days IFC 906.1 Where required Comments: Install an approved portable fire extinguisher with a U.L. rating of 2-A:10-B:C or more within 75 feet travel distance of all apartment units on each floor level. The top of the extinguisher shall be no more than five feet from the ground. NOTE: If theft or vandalism is a problem, an extinguisher with a U.L. rating of 1-A:10-B:C may be placed in each apartment unit in lieu of the exterior extinguishers required above. If this option is exercised, the enclosed form must be filled out and returned to the Fire Prevention Bureau on an annual basis. Failure to complete and return the enclosed form prior to the date listed below will result in this option being revoked.
