Makeup air for this hood is
provided via the HVAC system that is designed and intended to operate for 24 hours a
day and 7 days a week, due to the nature of the occupancy. Within the kitchen space,
the HVAC system constantly supplies 585 cfm of conditioned air. When the kitchen
hood is operating this supply air will become makeup air and be exhausted out of the
hood and the room will be under a slight negative pressure. When the hood is not
operating, the supply air will provide positive pressure, with return air taken from the
neighboring space.
The HVAC systems are equipped with 100% outside air economizers. For this reason,
the facility will most often have positive pressurization in the common areas. The
mechanical design includes barometric relief, provided via relief air hoods at the roof.
When not in economizer cooling mode, the HVAC systems are designed to bring in a
minimum amount of fresh outside air to each indoor fan coil unit. The minimum outside
air amount is sufficient to address the makeup air needed as well.
Feel free to give me a call if you have any further questions or concerns.
