Public Works Corrections Letter— Pressler Engineering's Responses to Mechanical and <br /> Electrical Comments <br /> 9. The following comments apply to the shafts on the second floor: PE Response: <br /> a. Fire dampers should be provided at the duct Concur. Provide minimum 1-hour <br /> penetrations of the concrete floor (Section 1717.6.1), or fire rated shaft for duct to ground <br /> i, The shafts should be shown as minimum floor lobby. See sheets M201 and <br /> one-hour fire resistive construction to maintain M204. <br /> the one-hour occupancy separation between <br /> the occupancies on each floor(Sections <br /> 508.4.4 and 717.6)and, <br /> ii. The shafts should be shown to continue to <br /> the underside of the roof sheathing(Section <br /> 707.5). <br /> 10. The following comments apply to air ducts penetrating the PE Response: <br /> fire-resistive ceiling membrane of the second floor roof/ceiling Concur. Ceiling radiation dampers <br /> assembly in accordance with Section 717.6.2: called for at all air devices. See <br /> a. Air ducts that penetrate the ceiling should be shown sheet M002. <br /> with ceiling radiation dampers. <br /> b. Exhaust ducts serving the dryers within the laundry <br /> room will be required to be within a rated shaft through <br /> the attic. The shaft construction should be detailed on <br /> the plans. <br /> c. Any duct serving the kitchen hood (residential, type II or <br /> type I)should be provided with a shaft. <br /> 6. A fire hydrant shall be located within 100 feet of a fire PE Response: <br /> department connection or standpipe. 2015 IFC, 507.5.1.1. Concur.
