31. Grade-Fire apparatus access roads shall not exceed 10%in grade. <br /> 32. Commercial and industrial buildings exceeding 30 feet or three stories in height shall have at least two <br /> means of fire apparatus access for each structure. <br /> 33. Buildings or portions of buildings or facilities exceeding 30 feet in height above the Iowest level of fire <br /> department vehicle access shall be provided with approved fire apparatus access roads capable of <br /> accommodating fire department aerial apparatus. Overhead utility and power lines shall not be located <br /> within the aerial fire apparatus access roadway. <br /> 34. Fire apparatus roads shall have a minimum unobstructed width of 26 feet in the immediate vicinity of any <br /> building or portion of building more than 30 feet in height. At least one of the required access routes <br /> shall be located within a minimum of 15 feet and a maximum of 30 feet from the buildine and shall <br /> be positioned parallel to one entire side of the building. <br /> 35. Multi-family residential projects having more than 100 dwelling units shall be equipped throughout with <br /> two separate and approved fire apparatus access roads. Exception: Projects having up to 200 dwelling <br /> units may have a single approved fire apparatus access road when ALL buildings, including <br /> nonresidential occupancies,are equipped throughout with approved automatic sprinkler systems. <br /> 36. Where elevators are provided in buildings, at least one elevator shall be provided for fire department <br /> emergency access to all floors. The elevator car shall be of such a size and arrangement to accommodate <br /> a 24-inch by 84-inch ambulance stretcher in the horizontal, open position and shall be identified by the <br /> international symbol for emergency medical services (star of life). The symbol shall not be less than 3 <br /> inches high and shall be placed inside on both sides of the hoistway door frame. <br /> Exception: If all stories within the building have direct, accessible egress to grade (EMC 16.01, Section <br /> V). <br /> 37. A building footprint and lot layout for this project shall be provided to the Fire MarshaPs Office on <br /> CD/DVD. <br /> Hotel <br /> 1. Access-The International Fire Code requires that all new structures shall provide Fire Department access <br /> roads to within 150 feet exterior walking distance of all portions of the ground floor. Fire Department <br /> access roads (Fire Lanes) shall provide a minimum of 20 feet in width of unobstructed, paved driving <br /> surface,exclusive of shoulders,with a minimum clear height of 13'6". Inside turn radii must be 35 feet. <br /> Outside turn radii must be 55 feet. Slope approach and departure angles must not exceed S <br /> degrees. Fire lane grade must not exceed 15 percent. Fire lane construction must comply with <br /> AASHTO H30 load capacity(74,000 gvw). Fire Lanes will be posted and maintained as required by the <br /> Fire Department. Unorthodox access which meets code requirements but is too unusual for crews <br /> will not be allowed. <br /> 2. Buildings greater than 30 feet high require ladder apparatus access in accordance with the 2009 <br /> International Fire Code, Section D105. The unobstructed width of the access in the immediate vicinity of <br /> the building shall be 26 feet. At least one of the required access routes shall be located within a minimum <br /> of 15 feet and a maximum of 30 feet from the building and shall be positioned parallel to one entire side <br /> of the building. <br /> 3.
