EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Summary <br /> Organization&Program: Hand in Hand: Safe Place <br /> Program Objective: To meet the physical needs of abused and neglected children when they are removed from their <br /> homes in emergency situations and to provide support and resources to the social workers and foster families who <br /> care for these children. <br /> Program Components and Structure: <br /> (1)House and stabilize children removed from abuse and neglectful environments for up to 72 hours while <br /> permanent placement is sought. <br /> (2)Clean,clothe and feed children. <br /> (3)Provide a Foster Care Initial Health Screen performed by a medical professional for the child and treat any <br /> communicable diseases such as lice,scabies,ringworm,etc. Have abuse documented by a medical professional. <br /> (4)Provide social summaries and supplies,including diapers,formula,school supplies,and clothing to go with the <br /> child to their placement. <br /> Target Population:Hand in Hand targets abused and neglected birth to twelve year old children.Children thirteen to <br /> seventeen years old are accepted if they come with younger siblings. <br /> How and When the Service will be provided: Safe Place is open 24 hours a day,7 days a week including holidays. <br /> Child Protection Service(CPS)workers call Safe Place when a child is removed from a home.The Shift Lead then <br /> contacts the on call staff to assist in the care of the child.Volunteers commit to one six or one ten hours shift per <br /> month,but many work more. <br /> Service Providers: Services are provided by trained volunteers and paid staff.Medical services are provided by <br /> Swedish Hospital,located in Everett.Abuse is documented by the Providence Intervention Center for Assault and <br /> Abuse. <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Priorities: Safe Place meets the priorities of Youth by providing shelter,food,health <br /> services and working with abused/neglected children. <br /> 2019 Human Needs Contracts 7 <br />
