YMCA/ City of Everett Partnership Agreement
Swim Pools Access Fees
This informational agenda item is intended to update the Budget Committee on the fees
associated with city of Everett residents utilizing the new YMCA pool(s). The new YMCA
projected opening date is December 1, 2019.
Background:
The City of Everett and the YMCA entered into a mutually beneficial agreement on June 7, 2018
that provided City funds in exchange for a donation of land to the city for a new park in the
Glacier View Neighborhood and City of Everett resident access to the new YMCA pool(s). The
city of Everett retains the revenue generated from fees paid by Everett residents.
The agreement states that the city of Everett will set daily admission fees for Everett resident
YMCA pool access. The intent is to establish fees that are affordable, slightly higher than the
Forest Park Swim Center and lower than nearby aquatic facilities with more amenities such as
the Snohomish and Lynnwood Aquatic Centers. The expected outcome is that Everett residents
will 1) benefit from and take advantage of the recreation opportunity at the new Everett YMCA
aquatic facility and; 2) choose to remain in Everett to swim.
The Board of Park Commissioners reviewed and supported these fees by way of a
recommendation at the May 28, 2019 meeting.
The rates and supporting data are provided on the next page and summarized below:
Category Everett Resident YMCA Daily Forest Park Swim Center Fee
Aquatic Admission Fee
Youth $4.50 $4.25
Adults $5.50 $5.00
Seniors $4.50 $4.25
Family $16.00 $12.00
I
