t 1 ORDINANCE NO. 2 3 AN ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Library Board of Trustees to coordinate the historical 4 studies, projects and other concerns within the City of Everett and to appoint the necessary 5 advisory board, if necessary, to carry out this coordination effort and declaring an emergency 6 to exist. 7 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: 8 Section 1 : That the Library Board of Trustees is hereby authori- 9 zed and directed to coordinate the historical studies , projects 10 and other historical concerns of the City of Everett. Such co- ordination effort shall include but not be limited to the follow- 11 ing functions : 12 (a) To develop a list of historical buildings and structures within the City of Everett; 13 (b) To develop programs to provide means whereby owners of 14 historical buildings can preserve such buildings or structures; 15 (c) To develop and coordinate plans and events for a City-wide 16 bicentennial celebration; 17 (d) To work in cooperation with the Snohomish County Histor- ical Society; 18 (e) To study the City' s role in museum activities; 19 (f) To commission historical displays and plan historic pro- 20 grams reflecting the photographic and oral history of the city; 21 (g) To coordinate local historical activities with the schools, 22 community college, civic groups and other groups and indi- viduals; 23 (h) To develop a collection of historical materials within the 24 Everett Public Library which reflect the cultural, ethnic and social history of the City of Everett and Snohomish 25 County; 26 (i) To maintain facilities with the Everett Public Library which will insure a local source of historical research 27 material available to local historians. 28 Section 2 : That the Library Board of Trustees may, if necessary, appoint an advisory board to assist the Library Board of Trustees 29 in carrying out the activities specified in Section 1 of this 30 ordinance. 31 32
