'4'i::rqi _.'If116F
ii: '.'L.i'1[,_.
property lies within a District I of the city. As the support cabinets are expected to operate 24
hours a day, they must meet the 45 dF3A nighttime limit.
Additionally, Everett Municipal Code 20.08.050 allows that during any one-hou, period, the
maximum permissible noise level may be exceeded by 5 dBA for a 15 minute period.
Therefore, the generator must not exceed 60 dBA wtien running during daytime hours for
maintenance testing. 1 he generator is exempt during emergency operation.
Predicted Sound Levels (24-Hour Operation Equipment)
The proposed 24-hour operation equipment ?ncludes four Lucent Modcell 4.OB cabinets (two
primary and two future growth) and two Emerson EBRE Bariery Cabinets. According to
manufacturer data, the Lucent Modcell 4.0B has a sound power level of 65 dBA at 25°C.
The manufacturer specifies the noise level for the Emerson EBRE Battery Cabinet is a
maximum of 71 dBA at 3 feet with air conditioning unit and alarm installed'. The combined
sound pressure level from all six cabinets is 74 dBA at 3 feet.
To predict equipment noise levels at the receiving properties, this survey used the methods
established by ARI Standard 275-97. Application factors such as location, height, and
refiective surfaces are accounted for in predicting the sound level at the nearest receivers.
The proposed equipment is to be located on a concrete equipment pad. The nearest
receiving property is approximately 85 feet west of the equipment loca!ion. The predicted
sound level at the nearest receiving property is shown in Table 1.
TablP 1
Application Factors and Predicted Noise Levels for Proposed
F_4uiament Cabinets at the Nearest Receivinv Propertv
DF =
New Equipment Sound Pressure Level at Receiver, Lpr I 45
(Add lines 1 and 2)
As shown in Table 1, the combined sound pressure level from the proposed equipment
cabinets at the nearest receiving property is 45 dBA, which meeis the 45 dBA nighttiine code
limit for equipment run 24 hours a day. No further mitigation is required to meet code.
Predicted Equipment Noise Levels (Emergency Generator)
The aroposed equipment includes one Generac 60 kW Diesel Generator with a Level 2A
So+nd Enclosure. According to data obtained from the manufacturer, the generator with a
Level 2A Sound Encloure will produce a sound Ievei of 65 dBA at 23 feet. The combined
sound pressure level from ail the equipment during the maintenance testing is 65 dBA at 23
feet.
' Noise data obtained Irom Emerson for 8,000 BTU McLean Hir Ccnditioning unit inslalled on cabinel.
I' : c e ?.
