ORDINANCE NO. 7 5L 7.3 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing the <br /> 1 City of Everett Police Reserve Unit <br /> 2 <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 3 <br /> Section 1: Reserve Police Unit Established <br /> 4 <br /> 5 There is hereby established for the City of Everett a Reserve Police Unit <br /> 6 to be an auxiliary of the regularly constituted full-time paid Police <br /> 7 Department of said City. <br /> 8 Section 2: Personnel Appointed <br /> 9 The personnel of the Reserve Police Officers shall be appointed by the <br /> 10 <br /> Chief of Police with the approval of the City Council, provided that Reserve <br /> 11 <br /> Officers shall not be subject to any Civil Service requirements nor shall they <br /> 12 <br /> be subject to the coverage provided by the Law Enforcement & Fire Fighters <br /> 13 <br /> 14 Retirement System as presently provided for or as hereafter amended. An <br /> 15 applicant, to be eligible, must be physically fit to perform the duties of a <br /> 16 police officer, and be able to pass a police background investigation. <br /> 17 Section 3: Authority of the Police Chief <br /> 18 The Reserve Police Unit shall be under the direction and control of the <br /> 19 <br /> Chief of Police or the person acting in place of the Chief during his absence. The <br /> 20 <br /> Chief of Police is authorized to promulgate and enact rules and regulations <br /> 21 <br /> governing the Reserve Police Unit. The Chief of Police shall be part of the <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Reserve Police Unit in such manner that is consistent with the best interest of the <br /> 24 public safety and welfare. The Chief of Police shall establish and enact minimum <br /> 25 training standards intended to provide a minimum acceptable level of performance. <br /> 26 Section 4: Arrest Authority <br /> 27 Members of the Reserve Police Unit shall have all the arrest powers of <br /> 28 <br /> a regularly sworn Everett Police Officer only while they are on authorized duty status. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 <br /> 31 <br /> 32 <br />
