ORDINANCE NO. - i` <br /> AN ORDINANCE levying a tax on bingo, raffles, <br /> 1 amusement games, punch boards and pull tabs <br /> 2 as authorized in Chapter 218, Laws of 1973, <br /> 1st Ex. Sess. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> 5 Section 1: Tax on Bingo, Raffles and Amusement Games: On and <br /> 6 after the 16th day of July, 1973, there is hereby levied upon and shall be <br /> 7 <br /> collected from and paid as hereinafter provided by every organizaton <br /> 8 <br /> conducting bingo, raffles and amusement games as authorized pursuant to <br /> 9 <br /> Chapter 218, Laws of 1973, 1st Ex. Sess. a "tax" in an amount of two (2) <br /> 10 <br /> 11 percent of the gross revenue received from such bingo, raffles and amusement <br /> 12 games. <br /> 13 Section 2: Tax on Punch Boards and Pull Tabs: On and after the <br /> 14 16th day of July, 1973, there is hereby levied upon and shall be collected from <br /> 15 .nd paid as hereinafter provided by every person, association or organization <br /> 16 <br /> utilizing punch boards and pull tabs as authorized pursuant to Chapter 218, Laws <br /> 17 <br /> .f 1973, 1st Ex. Sess. a tax of Five (5) mills of the gross income of the business <br /> 18 <br /> +n which the punch boards and pull tabs are displayed. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 Section 3: Definition of Terms: In construing the provisions of the <br /> 21 chapter, the following definitions shall be applied: <br /> 22 a. "Gross revenue or income" is defined as the total sum of <br /> 23 money or value received from the particular activity before <br /> 24 any deductions on account of operational and maintenance <br /> 25 <br /> expenses or any expense whatsoever, and without any <br /> 26 <br /> deduction on account of losses. <br /> 27 <br /> b. The terms "bingo, raffles and amusement games" shall be used <br /> 28 <br /> 29 herein as defined in Chapter 218, Laws of 1973, 1st Ex. Sess. <br /> 30 c. The terms "punch board and pull tabs" shall be used <br /> 31 herein as defined in Chapter 218, Laws of 1973, 1st Ex. Sess. <br /> 32 <br />
