• <br /> 1 representation of being engaged in the business of making <br /> 2 an investigation or investigations for hire or reward, with <br /> 3 reference to any of the following matters: Detecting, dis- <br /> 4 covering, or revealing crime or criminals, or securing secret <br /> 5 information or evidence relating thereto; the habits, conduct, <br /> 6 movements, whereabouts, associates, reputation, character, or <br /> 7 actions of any persons, firms, or corporations; the credibility of <br /> 8 witnesses or other persons; the location or recovery of lost <br /> 9 or stolen property; the causes, origin, or responsibility for fires, <br /> 10 accidents, and injuries to real or personal property; the securing <br /> 11 of evidence to be used before authorized investigating committees, <br /> 12 boards, or in the trial of civil or criminal cases. <br /> 13 Section 5: <br /> 14 Every applicant for a detective agency license or merchant patrol agency <br /> 15 shall file with the City Clerk at the time the application is filed, a surety <br /> 16 company bond running to the City of Everett, in a penal sum of Two Thousand <br /> 17 Dollars ($2, 000. 00), conditioned that the licensee will faithfully comply with <br /> 18 all the requirements of this ordinance, insofar as they relate to the business <br /> 19 of detective or detective agency or merchant patrol agency. <br /> 20 Section 6: <br /> 21 Nothing in this ordinance shall apply to any officer or employee of any <br /> 22 state, county, city or town, appointed or elected by due authority of law; <br /> 23 to any person, firm or corporation, whose business is the furnishing of <br /> 24 information as to the business and financial standing and credit of persons, <br /> 25 firms or corporations; nor to any person, firm or corporation inquiring <br /> 26 as to the personal habits and financial responsibilities of applicants for <br /> 27 insurance, indemnity bonds, or commercial credit, or of claimants under <br /> 28 insurance policies. <br /> 29 Section 7: <br /> 30 Sections 93-96 of Ordinance No. 2513 (E. C. C. 3. 48. 010 - 040) are hereby <br /> 31 I repealed. <br /> 32 <br />
