EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Summary <br /> Organization & Program: Mari's Place: Youth Development through Arts <br /> Mari's Place for the ArtsP rovides low-fee or free arts and culture classes for low income children ages three to 17. <br /> We utilize volunteer teachers,many of whom were program participants,to teach our classes. <br /> Classes are held six days per week and each class meets once per week. Classes taught include the following: <br /> • Art classes:drawing and painting <br /> • Music classes: guitar,drums, violin,piano,voice <br /> • Dance classes: ballet,hip hop, Spanish <br /> • Acting <br /> • Specialty topics like Spanish,English and math <br /> Classes are small with four to six participants in each in order to allow for individual attention and support. We <br /> provide very high quality materials for students to use so that they get a sense of their true talents. <br /> Children and teens who participate report increased self-esteem and skills, improved grades,and increased <br /> engagement in school and community. <br /> 2019 Human Needs Contracts 7 <br />
