Kirk Brooks
From: Erik Emerson
Sent: Monday,July 24, 2017 7:34 PM
To: Kirk Brooks
Subject: Swift Bus Stations - Second Review Comments
Kirk,
I have reviewed the Community Transit SWIFT Station Construction plans. They appear to have addressed Jane's
previous comments by clarifying what elements were to remain/removed and adding additional detail. However, the
changes bring up the following comments:
1. General Comment-There are a number of references to EDDS standard plans. While this is acceptable
considering the nature of the project the construction must still meet City of Everett standards where they differ
from the County's requirements.
2. Sheet C4.30—GIS records indicate that there is a Sanitary Sewer main near the curb line which is not shown in
the plan. Please show the sewer main and ensure that the proposed catch basin upsizing will not impact the
sewer or manholes. See 1998 Snohomish County Asbuilt(attached).
3. Sheet C4.30—Clarify the intent for the new CB642. Presumably the replacement is to allow a grate in the
relocated gutter line without re-plumbing the storm drain line.
4. Sheet C4.31—A 6" canopy drain is graphically shown connecting to the same side of a Type 1 CB as an existing
12 pipe, which I un-constructible.The canopy drain line should connect from the curb side of the CB,with
appropriate fittings in the line.
5. Sheet C4.33—The proposed replacement detention system must comply with City of Everett Standard Drawing
418,which differs slightly from the EDDS equivalent. Most notably:
• Connecting pipes between the end structures and the tank must be a minimum of 48" dia.Since the
tank is 48" in diameter no reduced diameter connections will be allowed.
• Steel pipe is not permitted within the City. I'm not familiar with the acronym SRSSP. Ensure that the pipe
material is allowed per the City Design and Construction Standards and Specifications.
6. Sheet C4.35—The control structure for CB 682 must comply with City of Everett Standard Drawings 415 and 416.
Most notably
• The 8" sheer gate should be a lift gate per Detail "C" of Standard Drawing 416.
• Provide 24" minimum clearance from the steps to all appurtenances.
• 6" separation must be provided between the top of riser and the bottom of the CB lid. Based on the rim
elevation it looks like it will be close.
Erik Emerson PE
City of Everett, Public Works
Senior Surface Water Engineer
3200 Cedar Street
Everett, WA 98201
Direct: 425-257-8995, Fax: (425)257-8882
eemerson@everettwa.gov
1
