5. All sawcuts shall be cleaned with a 1000 psi high pressure washer as certified by the manufacturer's <br /> label on the machine or as measured by an in line pressure gauge. Wash water and slurry shall be <br /> vacuumed out and the sawcut shall be blown dry with compressed air. Disposal of the wash water <br /> and slurry shall comply with the requirements of Section 1-07.5(3) and the Special Provision <br /> LEGAL RELATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE PUBLIC. <br /> 6. Loops shall be installed after grinding and prior to the final lift of roadway surfacing material. <br /> 7. The conductor shall be installed one turn on top of the previous turn. All turns shall be installed in <br /> a clockwise direction. The conductors shall be secured to prevent floating with 2-inch lengths of <br /> high temperature foam backer rod sized for a snug fit. The backer rod shall be spaced at 2-foot <br /> intervals around the perimeter of the sawcut and at corners. <br /> 8. Installation of the sealant shall completely encapsulate the loop conductors. A minimum of one <br /> inch of sealant shall be provided between the top of the conductors and the top of the sawcut. The <br /> top of the sealant shall be flush to 1/8 inch below the top of the sawcut. <br /> 9. Use of kerosene solvent is prohibited. <br /> 8-20.3(14)C Preformed Loops <br /> Where indicated in the Plans, detector loops shall be preformed. <br /> Preformed detector loops and homeruns located in bridge roadway slabs shall be supported at a depth of 1 <br /> to 1-1/2 inches below the finished grade and one inch minimum above the top layer of steel reinforcing <br /> bars. Preformed detector loops and homeruns shall be supported by metal or plastic chair supports <br /> conforming to Section 6-02.3(24)C. The loops shall be supported every 12 inches at a minimum. Loops and <br /> homeruns shall be tie wrapped and anchored so that they remain at a depth 1 to 1-1/2 inches below the <br /> finished grade and one inch minimum above the top layer of steel reinforcing bars. <br /> Preformed detector loops and homeruns located in cement concrete pavement, outside of bridge roadway <br /> slabs, shall be supported at a depth of four to six inches below the finished grade with plastic chair supports <br /> meeting the requirements of Section 6-02.3(24)C. The loops shall be supported every 12 inches at a <br /> minimum. Loops and homeruns shall be tie wrapped and anchored with epoxy coated rebar stakes so that <br /> they remain at a depth four to six inches below the finished grade. Epoxy coated rebar stakes shall be driven <br /> a minimum of four inches into the subgrade. <br /> Preformed detector loops and homeruns located in hot mix asphalt shall be installed after all grinding and <br /> prior to paving the final lift of asphalt. <br /> 1. Round sawcuts shall be six feet in diameter and shall be constructed using equipment designed for <br /> cutting round loops. The equipment shall use a concave, diamond-segmented blade. The sawcut <br /> shall be normal to the pavement surface and shall be a minimum of 0.1 inches wider than the <br /> preformed detector loop.
