SERIAL NO. 90200589/90/1 ENGINEER The Austin Company
UNIT TYPE Factory assembled, induced draft. crossflow cooling tower with vertical air discharge. All
steel components are constructed of 6210 galvanized steel.
•
THERMAL Thermal Performance is certified by the Cooling Tower institute in accordance with CTI
PERFORMANCE Certification Standard STO-201.
CASING Casing is constructed entirely of heavy gauge, 6210 galvanized steel panels.
ACCESS Hinged access doors are provided on both end walls of the tower for access to eliminators and
fan plenum section. Access doors are constructed of 6210 galvanized steel.
•
COLD WATER Cold water basin is constructed of heavy gauge 6210 galvanized steel. Basin includes a depressed
BASiN center section with drain/clean-out connection.
MAKE-UP FLOAT Brass make-up valve with large diameter plastic float arranged for easy adjustment. The make-up
ASSEMBLY valve is suitable for citywater supply pressures between 15 and 50 psig (not provided on units
for remote sump operation).
•
STRAINER Large-area, lift-out. 6210 galvanized steel strainer has perforated openings sized smaller
than water distribution nozzle orifices. Strainer Includes integral anti-vortexing hood to
prevent air entrainment (except units for remote sump operation
AIR INLET inlet louvers are wave-formed, 6210 galvanized steel, spaced to minimize air resistance and
LOUVERS prevent water splash-out.
WATER DISTRIBUTION Hot water distribution basins are open gravity type constructed of 6210 galvanized steel.
SYSTEM Distribution weirs and plastic metering orifices are provided to assure even distribution of
water over the wet deck surface.
FLOW BALANCING VALVES Integral flow balancing valves are factory-installed in the hot water basins to distribute
flow evenly between the distribution basins.
BALTIORiVE' Fan Is driven by a one-piece multi-groove, neoprene/polyester belt designed specifically for
POWERORIVE FAN cooling tower service. Fan sheave is cast nylon and motor sheave is cast iron protected from
DRIVE SYSTEM moist discharge air by a vented enclosure.
FAN SHAFT AND Fan and solid steel fan shaft are supported by heavy-duty, self-aligning, grease-packed,
BEARINGS relubricatable ball bearings with special seals for protection against dust and moisture, and
integral slinger rings. Ail bearings are designed for minimum L10 life of 40,000 hours.
f FAN AND FAN Fan is fixed pitch. heavy-duty. cast aluminum, axial flow with a minimum of eight blades. The
CYLINDER heavy gauge, G210 galvanized fan cylinder is designed for streamlined air entry and minimum
tip clearances for maximum fan efficiency.
FAN GUARD A heavy gauge, hot-dip galvanized wire fan guard is provided over each fan cylinder.
MOTOR Fan motor is totally enclosed, air-over (TEAO), reversible, squirrel cage, ball bearing type,
designed specifically for cooling tower service. Motor is furnished with special moisture protection
on windings, shafts and bearings.
BACROSS• WET DECK The wet deck surface and integral drift eliminators are formed of polyvinly chloride (PVC).
SURFACE AND They are impervious to rot, decay, and fungus or biological attack. The eliminators are designed
DRIFT ELIMINATORS to effectively strip entrained moisture from the leaving airstream with a minimum of air resistance.
CORROSION All steel components are G210 galvanized steel with cut edges and other exposed surfaces coated
PROTECTION with a zinc-rich compound. The exterior of the tower is given a final coat of Zinc-Chromatized
Aluminum after assembly.
•
7/87
