GARDNER BAY CONSULTING, LL;C
Kembri Lanidry
February 1;,2016
Discussion
Lui and Associates 2008 assessed the landslide and erosion hazard associated with constructing the house that
is currently located on Parcel 00409422500400 (1222 Grand Ave) that is the lot adjacent to north. In their
discussion and recommendations, Lui and Associates concluded that "it would be unlikely for deep-seated
landslides cutting into these competent soils to occur on the site and, therefore, the landslide hazard for the
subject site should be minimal." 1 Lui and Associates goes on to state that erosion hazards can be maintained
with vegetation and the seismic hazard is should be minimal.
Site Work
The deck construction will involve the installation of 14 footings. Lui and Associates recommended that soil
bearing pressure should be no more than 3,000 psf for footings installed in the hard soils found beneath the site.
This is sufficient for the current deck plan.
Statement
The services described in this letter were prepared under the responsible charge of Peter Battuello LG, LHG. Mr.
Battuello is a geologist as defined in EMC 19.4. Mr. Battuello understands the requirements for the current
Geologically Hazardous Areas Chapter EMC 19.37.080 and the definition of the applicable terms contained within
EMC 19.4. Mr. Battuello performed a geological assessment, conducted a field investigation, and researched
historic records on or in the vicinity of the above referenced site. In my opinion, the scope of the services
completed for this project is adequate to meet the requirements of the Department and I conclude that the
construction of the proposed deck will avoid impacts to the geologically hazardous area and no geologic hazards
will result from the proposed deck, either on the site or•" „y 'acent properties.
{ Was
Sincerely,
co
—Ga er Bay Consulting, LLC f''
Sed G • % \(:)
Peter Battuello, LG, LHG /4..
Peter Ant•11241-•"`
References:
Dames and Moore 1991, Memorandum regarding Methodology for Inventory, Classification and Designation of
Geologically Hazardous Areas,City of Everett,June 1, 1991.
Liu and Associates, Inc. 2008, Geotechnical Investigation and Recommendations, Don and Jo Levine Residence,
1224 Grand Avenue, Everett, WA, L&A Job No. 8A037, April 7, 2008.
Minard 1985, Geologic Map of the Everett 7.5-Minute Quadrangle, Snohomish County,Washington.
