Ted de Budden f r-70 /- 00'
From: Ted de Budden
Sent: Tuesday,July 18, 2017 4:58 PM
To: Donald Cunningham
Subject: 2410 Maple St.
Don,
The following is a summary of my observations and comments made today during the inspection I conducted with you
at 2410 Maple St.
It was noticed that Electric Baseboard heaters have been removed throughout the main house. The wall thermostats
remain.
The detached garage structure on this property has been altered to create a separate dwelling.
I conducted a permit search for this work and am unable to locate required permits and inspection approvals for these
alterations.
Alterations of the building, plumbing, and electrical systems within these buildings are violations of code. IRC Section
105.1 Permits Required and IPMC Section 108.1.4"Unlawful Structure"
Tenant doors in the main house were observed to have hasp hardware installed. This is an unsafe condition and a
violation of code. IPMC section 702.3
Exterior stairways from the back door and to the basement area lack required handrails. IPMC section 307.1
A required smoke alarm is not provided within the"altered garage" sleeping room. IPMC section 704.2
Statements by tenants and documents compiled by city officials indicate that the attic portion of the main house has
been altered for use as habitable space. This area is not suitable or approved for habitable space.
In summary, the violations observed today are unlawful and create unsafe conditions for the occupants of these
structures.
I encourage and support enforcement action to abate these conditions.
Thank you for the opportunity to provide assistance in this matter.
Regards
Ted M.de Budden
Chief Inspector
Everett Building Department
425.257 7271
1
