EVERETT <br /> WASHINGTON <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Summary <br /> Organization &Program: Arts Council of Snohomish County: Art Alternatives Program <br /> Schack Art Center will provide weekly art classes for justice-involved youth through the Art Alternatives Program. <br /> Instructors use a research based prevention model to help youth learn how to complete a project and work with <br /> peers, how to communicate without violence, and how to engage with adults to discover solutions.The goal of the <br /> program is to prevent delinquency using the following objectives: <br /> 1)Collaborate with juvenile strategies on community connections and positive adult mentoring <br /> 2) Build art and communication skills <br /> 3) Engage youth in constructive activities <br /> 4)Guide teens through a project from start to finish <br /> 5) Encourage self-esteem through problem-solving successes and exhibits of their work <br /> Classes are provided in cooperation with Denney Juvenile Justice Center and Northwest Educational Service <br /> District 189. Program partners provide a classroom space and support for the Schack teaching artists. <br /> 2019 Human Needs Contract Page 8 <br />
