• <br /> . • <br /> • <br /> 1 (8) Amounts derived as compensation for services rendered <br /> or to be rendered to patients by a hospital, as defined in <br /> 2 RCW 70. 41, devoted to the care of human beings with respect <br /> to the prevention or treatment of disease, sickness, or suffer- <br /> 3 ing, when such hospital is operated by the United States or <br /> any of its instrumentalities, or by the state, or any of its <br /> 4 political subdivisions; <br /> 5 (9) Amounts derived as compensation for services rendered <br /> to patients by a hospital, as defined in RCW 70. 41, which <br /> 6 is operated as a non-profit corporation, nursing homes and <br /> homes for unwed mothers operated as religious or charitable <br /> 7 organizations, but only if no part of the net earnings received <br /> by such an institution inures directly or indirectly, to any <br /> 8 person other than the institution entitled to deduction hereunder. <br /> In no event shall any such deduction be allowed, unless the <br /> 9 hospital building is entitled to exemption from taxation under <br /> the property tax laws of this state; <br /> 10 <br /> ( 10) Amounts derived by a political subdivision of the state <br /> 11 of Washington from another political subdivision of the state <br /> of Washington as compensation for services which are within <br /> 12 the purview of RCW 82. 04. 290; <br /> 13 (11) By those engaged in banking, loan, security or other <br /> financial businesses, amounts derived from interest received <br /> 14 on investments or loans primarily secured by first mortgages <br /> or trust deeds on nontransient residential properties; <br /> 15 <br /> (12) By those engaged in banking, loan, security or other <br /> 16 financial business, amounts derived from interest paid on <br /> all obligations of the state of Washington, its political sub- <br /> 17 divisions, and municipal corporations organized pursuant <br /> to the laws thereof; <br /> 18 <br /> ( 13) Amounts derived as interest on loans by a lending <br /> 19 institution which is owned exclusively by its borrowers or <br /> members and which is engaged solely in the business of <br /> 20 making loans for agricultural production." <br /> 21 Section 3: <br /> 22 An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance <br /> 23 shall take effect upon becoming valid. <br /> 24 <br /> CITY OF EVERETT <br /> 25 ATTEST: <br /> 26 <br /> (4.1j, <br /> 27 -F-� Cjt Clerk MAYOR <br /> 28 <br /> 29 Passed: 6 ._ ( J- - 7 1-- <br /> 30 <br /> 30 Valid: - J " <br /> 31 Published: 7 — - <br /> 32 <br /> -5- <br />
