NSF International Seafood
1728 West Marine View Drive
Suite 223
Everett,WA 98201
SUBJECT: Operations of NSF International Seafood
TO: Snohomish County Department of Environmental Health.
NSF International Seafood is a business unit of NSF International with the parent headquarters located in Ann Arbor
Michigan. The mission of NSF international is to Protect the Public Health through multiple services. The Seafood
business unit has 3 distinct offerings of services it provides on a global basis:
A. Consulting and Training
B. Certifications and Audits
C. Product Evaluations
As part of the Product Evaluation process rooms are established that allow for the inspector to successfully evaluate a
client's product based on a standard NSF method or by their end item specifications. This includes the use of a 3
compartment sink which is used to hold water when a requirement for deglazing seafood is necessary but the primary
purpose of the sink is to properly clean, rinse and sanitize the equipment(knives, cutting boards, trays, baskets, scales,
etc.) used in the performance of the product evaluation.
The products evaluated are required to be disposed of by the method of freezing and then taking to a landfill or a
transfer station to be disposed of through decomposition. At no time is any of the material assessed ever placed into
any type of commerceor donated to any type of service for human or animal consumption.
The use of the 3 compartment sink is to ease the ability to properly clean, rinse and sanitize equipment and is not
intended to be.used in the production of any type of human or animal, food.
Thomas White
Global Manager Certification and Audits
NSF International Seafood.
