Don Peterson
(425) 330-4361
From:don peterson<donpeterson2000@hotmail.com>
Sent:Thursday, November 30, 2017 4:48 PM
To: Ranee Palacios
Subject: New offer
Ranee:
Having now been able to go into the house again with you, an architect
and the City of Everett inspectors, I feel that I must revise my current
offer of $435,000 downward for the following reasons:
1. The whole basement area, including the walls up to 18" off the
floor, has been heavily contaminated with heating oil that leaked out of
the oil furnace and floated on top of the 18" of water that had also made
it's way into the basement over the months that the house has sat
empty. The smell of the oil is so strong it is impossible to go into the
basement without breathing difficulties and eyes burning. Much of the
smell is detectable on the main floor.
Not only do all the concrete floors and exterior basement walls need to
be decontaminated and sealed but the wood walls that frame in the
downstairs rooms, the basement stairway and the wood posts that
support the floor above need to be removed and disposed of as
hazardous waste and then replaced. Additionally, all of the furnishings
that were left in the basement that have become equally contaminated
with the heating oil will need to be disposed of as hazardous waste.
(2-/ 7
