B(./ 306- oO /
Scope of work at 3112 15th St, Everett, WA
ri or
x8
The entire stairway, landing leading to the second floor and the second-floo deck was replaced end of
September 2010. All work was permitted and inspected. The four supporting beams and two of the
supporting 6"x 6" posts were still good and therefore were reused when the stairs and deck were
replaced in 2010.
These four supporting beams now need to be replaced. The scope of this permit request is to replace
these four beams with the same size and design that was approved eight years ago. I am also asking to
replace the stringers supporting the stairs to the entry of apartment A on the first floor.
I have already replaced three of the four beams, before a stop work order was posted at the property. I
am asking permission to replace the last beam and have the work inspected. ,,
7- i s-es6X$ Sec
The design and construction of these replacement beams i-- • - - . ' <_
Three pressuretreated two by six boards screwed together with a half inch spacer between so that it's
thickness will match the 6"x 6" post they are sitting on. The spacer allows a T shaped metal strap to be
nailed on the face and back side, tying the new beam to its supporting post. This half-inch plywood
spacer was mopped on all sides with a wood preservative before the beams were built. The.beams are
already built and three of them are installed so I hope their design will be approved. The beams will be
tied to the joists sitting on top of the beams with the same Simpson H1 straps that were approved with
the last permit.
All the wood used in the construction of the stairs, landing and second story deck is pressure treated
and in good condition.
I have included two drawings that I found that were part of the 2010 permit. It gives you some as-built
dimensions.
The other item to be done is the replacement of the stringers for the three step stairs to the landing of
apartment A on the first floor. Currently there are only two stair stringers, one on each end. I would
like to add a third stringer down the middle. I plan on buying these stringers precut and pressure
treated at Lowes. I will also replace any stair tread boards(three pressure treated 2"x 4")as needed. I
will support the stringers by tying them to the landing with joist hangers.
