The Boeing Company will be testing an aircraft upon the existing test slab located to the south of Boeing
Building 40-041 within the Boeing Everett facility site (Photo 1). The test frame will utilize the existing
testing slab for resistance of test loads, gravity weight, and lateral forces.
Six concrete spread footings highlighted on Sheets TF-1560-1 and TF-1560-2 will be required to support
temporary steel columns used during the erection of the steel testing frame. These footings will become
permanent and a permit is requested for these footings. The footing design utilizes the same soil bearing
pressure (1500 pounds per square foot) used for the previous design of the test slab. The vertical load
applied to these footings is 20 kips allowable maximum and the footings do not receive lateral forces from
the test frame.
The following pages include design calculations for the footings including review of the loads imposed to
an adjacent reinforced concrete trench wall. The capacity of the existing soils and existing trench wall are
found to be acceptable for the footing design loads.
