ORDINANCE NO. C1 7 - 7) <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing fire dispatchers as firemen <br /> for purposes of eligibility for firemen's pension benefits, <br /> and declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 40, Chapter 209, of the 1969 Laws of Washington <br /> Extraordinary Session amends the definitions of RCW 41. 18. 010 to include <br /> fire dispatchers if such is provided by appropriate local legislation, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council finds that, in recognition of the duties performed <br /> by fire dispatchers and the close relationship of such duties to those of <br /> firemen, such fire dispatchers should be eligible for the same pension <br /> benefits as firemen, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> All fire dispatchers presently employed by the City of Everett, who <br /> are regularly employed as such, are hereby deemed to be members of the <br /> Fire Department of the City of Everett and to be actively employed as <br /> firemen. <br /> Section 2: <br /> Hereafter all members of the Fire Department, whether employed <br /> in the duty of fire dispatcher or other duties, who are to be eligible for <br /> pension benefits exclusively for firemen or fire fighters shall pass a <br /> civil service examination for firemen or fire fighters which shall include <br /> any requirements of the fire pension board with regard to employment <br /> eligibility. <br /> Section 3: <br /> That an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance <br /> shall take effect upon becoming valid. <br /> A OR R�-i 1�M <br /> ATT :�.T: <br /> Z, c,.A-e-Le-v <br /> D I 'If City Clerk <br /> Passed: 7a <br /> Valid: a?_ <br /> Published: _ F_� L� <br />
