• <br /> • <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 7 <br /> AN ORDINANCE establishing clothing regulations <br /> for the Police and Fire Department and repealing <br /> Ordinance No. 4266 (E. C. C. Chapter 1. 54), and <br /> declaring an emergency to exist. <br /> THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section 1: <br /> A. The City of Everett will purchase and replace Class B <br /> work uniforms and turn-out clothing required under regulations, as well <br /> as any other specialized fire-fighting clothing required by the Chief of the <br /> Fire Department. Replacement will be made as necessary, by means <br /> of requisition to the property officer. Maintenance will be the responsibility <br /> of the individual members with the exception of post-fire cleaning of the <br /> uniform. <br /> B. Members of the Fire Department will purchase and <br /> maintain their own Class A dress uniforms for ceremonial occasions. <br /> C. The City of Everett will furnish beds, mattresses, <br /> spreads, blankets and pillows. Members of the Fire Department will furnish <br /> and maintain their own sheets, pillowcases and towels. <br /> Section 2: <br /> 1. The Police Department will initially purchase and thereafter <br /> replace the following items of clothing: <br /> A. Class B working uniforms required under regulations. <br /> Replacement will be made, at the request of the officer <br /> or the City, by means of requisition to the property <br /> officer. Items furnished will include helmets, hard <br /> equipment (i. e. pistols, saps, flashlights and batteries, <br /> special chemicals, etc. ) and any specialized police <br /> equipment or clothing as required by the Chief of Police; <br /> and <br /> B. Class A parade uniforms, as needed for ceremonial <br /> occasions, will be furnished and maintained by the City. <br /> 2. Plainclothes officers will be given a One Hundred Fifty Dollar <br /> ($150. 00) annual allowance for visible clothing, except shoes. Reimbursement <br /> for purchases from local clothiers up to this amount will be made only <br /> upon presentation of a receipt showing actual purchase of wearing apparel. <br /> 3. All officers will purchase and maintain their own Class A-1 <br /> dress uniforms after completion of their first nine months' service in the <br /> department, and will at all times maintain their uniforms and clothing <br /> in a neat, clean and orderly fashion. <br />
