EVERETT <br /> MEI WASHINGTON <br /> City of Everett Human Needs Grant <br /> January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019 <br /> Exhibit A <br /> Program Summary <br /> Organization&Program: Dawson Place Child Advocacy: Center Management&Cribs for Kids <br /> YOUTH-both the Center Management&Cribs for Kids program serves to protect youth in alliance with priorities <br /> e)Abuse/Neglect Abuse&f)Violence/Delinquency Prevention in the Human Needs Grant. <br /> Child Advocacy Center Management directs a single location in downtwon Everett where ALL the services for child <br /> abuse victims are available:medical and mental health care,forensic interviews,victim advocacy,protective <br /> services,law enforcement,and prosecution services.These services are provided at Dawson Place by: <br /> • Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse(victim advocacy&medical) <br /> • Compass Health Child Advocacy Program(mental health therapy) <br /> • Child Protective Services(child safety monitoring and investigations) <br /> • Snohomish County Sheriffs Special Investigation Unit(child abuse cases) <br /> • Snohomish County Prosecutor's Special Assault Unit(child abuse/sexual assault cases) <br /> • Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center(child forensic interviews&service coordination) <br /> Housing all the services at one location promotes collaboration,facilitates access to services,and creates efficiencies <br /> that extend funding.A single location also diminishes the trauma for the children and families,and increases the <br /> likelihood that they follow through on appointments and ongoing therapy.Dawson Place owns the building, <br /> coordinates inter-agency services,performs child forensic interviews,manages the facility,raises funds,and <br /> conducts community outreach. <br /> Dawson Place serves any child victim of felony level sexual assault,physical abuse,neglect,drug endangerment, <br /> and/or witness to violent crimes.We serve children aged 0-18 years of age,and can extend therapy to the age of <br /> twenty-two.Our Center provides ALL the core services available to child abuse victims and their non-offending <br /> family members in Snohomish County at no charge.Our Center has averaged 1,140 clients annually over the last <br /> five years;about 22 new kids per week.In 2017 we served 952 sexually or physically abused or neglected children; <br /> approximately 25%of those served are residents of Everett(238 children from Everett plus gardians/family <br /> members=714 residents served). <br /> The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC serves families to protect youth from potential death due to <br /> parental delinquency or neglect.Dawson Place has established a professional network with police departments, <br /> Child Protective Services,and other governmental and non-profit child/family advocacy organizations.This network <br /> of partners has people on the front line who are witness to families where unsafe infant sleeping environments exist. <br /> When one of our partners witnesses a dangerous sleep environment,they either refer the family to Dawson Place for <br /> a free crib,or they pick up a crib from Dawson Place and deliver it to the family in person. <br /> The Cribs for Kids program at Dawson Place CAC includes a single crib distribution point,and a loose network of <br /> professionals.The program is spread through word-of-mouth,and is highlighted at Dawson Place's speaking <br /> engagements and outreach events. <br /> Each crib includes new sheets,and safe-sleep information/instructions in both English and Spanish. <br /> The program has seen a 75%increase in demand between 2016 and 2017.The program has also established new <br /> funding sources to meet the demand. <br /> Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center is open M-F from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.Our emergency hotline is personed <br /> 24/7.Free cribs are distributed during Dawson Places CAC's regular working hours:M-F, 8am-4:30pm or by <br /> appointment.They can be picked up by the family directly,or by the family's advocate. <br /> 2019 Human Needs Contracts 8 <br />
