ORDINANCE NO. 5.--&? <br /> AN ORDINANCE CREATING A BOARD OF PARK COMMISSIONERS PURSUANT TO ARTICLE <br /> V OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF EVERETT. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 17.3 of the Charter of the City of Everett, <br /> effective December 5, 1968, states that the Park Board as provided in <br /> the previous charter shall be considered abolished, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Everett, effective <br /> December 5, 1968, provides that a Board of Park Commissioners shall be <br /> established which shall be an advisory board, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF EVERETT DOES ORDAIN: <br /> Section"l: That a Board of Park Commissioners is hereby created <br /> which shall consist of seven members to be appointed by the Mayor of the <br /> City of Everett with the approval of Council. <br /> Section 2: That said Board of Park Commissioners shall be an <br /> advisory board, functioning in an advisory capacity to the Mayor, City <br /> Council, Department of Parks and Recreation and other city departments in <br /> respect to park and recreation matters. <br /> Section 3: The initial appointment of the members, by the Mayor, <br /> shall be for the following terms : one member for a one-year term; one for <br /> a two-year term; one for a three-year term; one for a four-year term; one <br /> for a five-year term; and two for a six-year term. Thereafter, the term <br /> of office for each Commissioner shall be for a six-year term.
