412
March, 15th, 2019
To: James Bronder, P.E., S.E.
Associate Engineer
Plans Examiner
City of Everett
Correction Letter
RE: Building Permit Review Letter
Dear Mr. Bronder,
In response to the Plan review comments, the plans have been examined and revised per your
comments in order to receive approval for a building permit. Please see the response to your
comments below.
Architectural 1.
City Comment:
1. On Sheet A1.1, the proposed cooler box appears to increase the fire area of the existing
building. Previous records appear to indicate that the existing structure is a nonsprinkler'd, Type
5B structure with a B Occupancy. Per IBC 2015 506.2, the total area of proposed area and
existing area appears to exceed the allowable area threshold of a nonsprinkler'd building.
Please provide details indicating a proposed sprinkler system is to be installed or indicate via
details an alternate means of providing fire separation between the two areas.
Answer:
The 2-hr fire separation between the existing warehouse facility and the new cooler box is
accomplished by the existing 8" thick cmu exterior wall of the warehouse. To protect the
existing opening, we are replacing the existing roll up door with a minimum 90 minute rated
roll up door with a fusible link to release and close the roll up door if fire is present.
Please reach out to me with and questions in regard to the proposed corrections. I have also included
information on the proposed roll up door to be installed as well as the shop drawing and installation
pack for premanufactured cooler box deferred submittal for your review and approval.
Sincerely,
Matt Schreifels
matts(c2812architecture.com
2812 Colby Ave Everett, WA 98201
2812 Colby Avenue Everett WA 98201
P (425)252-2153 www.2812architecture.com
