- EVERETT
ism WASHINGTON
City of Everett Human Needs Grant
January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019
Exhibit A
Program Summary
Organization &Program: Everett Recovery Café: Peer to Peer Recover Support Services
To meet the need for sustained, long term recovery support for people in recovery from homelessness, abuse,
trauma, mental health challenges, and addiction;to give them many chances to sustain recovery, rebuild their lives,
and break the cycle of addiction, homelessness, isolation, and poverty. The Café is open to all people. Some people
come to the Café in recovery from loneliness, and are empowered by supporting someone recovering from heroin.
Recovery support is delivered and healing is fostered through four types of accountability structures:
• Recovery Circles-Small support groups, led by a trained facilitator, that educate members about the recovery
process, help them develop skills for relapse prevention and teach accountability. Attendance at a weekly Recovery
Circle is a requirement of membership, intended to teach and model responsibility, build self-esteem,and discourage
isolation that triggers substance abuse and exacerbates mental health challenges.
•Classes for Recovery-Programs and classes that address the core and underlying issues of addiction and teach
members new skills, including yoga, meditation, art,The Four Agreements, journaling, and relapse prevention.
•Service opportunities-These help members learn the rewards of giving back, improve communication skills,
develop leadership skills, learn to interact effectively and productively with staff, other members and outside
volunteers who spend time at the Café sharing their gifts.
• 12-step and other support group meetings—meetings are held at the Café after hours. In our new we'll have a
dedicated room for an array of support meetings.
2019 Human Needs Contracts 7
